The Agriculture Sector Network (ASNET) Chairman Dr. Bimal Kantaria together with other members in agriculture technologies and digital innovations sub-sector networked with the French Kenya Farmer’s club in a luncheon at Serena Hotel which was hosted by Elgon Kenya Limited.
The discussions focused on commercial aspect of rapidly growing technologies in agriculture sector which included satellite imagery to pinpoint plant yields and possible areas where natural factors may reduce plant production and the use of drone especially in larger farm’s. High rate of digital innovations have seen Kenya ranked the leading country in the use of technology in agriculture across the continent.
There has been a relatively swift development in penetration of mobile phones in rural Kenya as more farmers turn to digital solutions in seeking guidance for their farming challenges.
Present in the luncheon were Airbus agriculture services, ITK France, e-tumbo, Kuza Biashara, Astral Aviator, Aerocopter, National Potatoe Council of Kenya (NCPK), Commercial Aquaculture Society of Kenya (CASK) amongst others. The lunch is the first in a series of networking opportunities between the two organizations.
