ASNET participated in a sensitization forum held at the KEPROBA offices on January 24, 2024. The forum focused on the Growth Gateway initiative, which is funded by the British High Commission and led by BCG. The initiative aims to support the implementation of the Kenya-UK EPA, which came into force in 2021.
The Growth Gateway initiative has two main objectives. Firstly, it provides exporters to the UK with a self-assessment tool to evaluate their eligibility for accessing the market. Secondly, it offers market information and financing investment opportunities for UK firms looking to invest in local enterprises. As of now, 22 out of 63 Kenyan enterprises have successfully qualified to access the UK market through the Growth Gateway initiative.
BCG is actively collaborating with partners such as ASNET, KEPROBA, and other initiatives of the British High Commission to increase the number of firms accessing the market. One of the key areas of focus is addressing existing barriers, such as compliance with market requirements of a sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) nature for smallholder farmers.
