On December 05, 2024, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nairobi, in partnership with ASNET, Lattice, Larive International, and AKEFEMA, convened a high-level roundtable session at the Trademark Hotel, Nairobi. Themed “Crafting the Roadmap for a Sustainable and Resilient Feed Sector,” this event was a follow-up to the initial session held on March 2024.
The forum was graced by Mr. John Maina representing the Principal Secretary State Department of Liestock PS Jonathan Mueke, Deputy Ambassador, Netherlands Embassy Kenya HE Jaris Van Bommel and ASNET CEO Agatha Thuo.
The roundtable brought together key stakeholders from Kenya’s agricultural and feed industries to engage in intensive discussions aimed at addressing pressing challenges and identifying actionable strategies to bolster the sector. The focus was on creating a resilient and sustainable feed value chain that can withstand external shocks while ensuring food security and supporting livelihoods.
Discussions revolved around strategic action plans, innovation in feed production, and the importance of partnerships in overcoming hurdles such as resource constraints, climate change, and market dynamics. Participants included policymakers, industry experts, private sector leaders, and development partners, all committed to driving transformative change in Kenya’s feed sector.
ASNET remains dedicated to fostering such collaborations, which are essential for advancing sustainable agricultural practices and creating long-term value for our members and the wider community.
